Peacefully, with her loving family at her side on Tuesday, December 16^th, 2025, Jacoba “Coby” Vanderploeg (nee Vanderelst) of Strathroy and formerly of Mount Brydges and Komoka at the age of 93.  Predeceased by her husband Ralph (1981).

Lovingly remembered by her daughter Audrey (Ronald) Wiley and predeceased by her son Peter Ralph Vanderploeg (2016) and survived by her daughter-in-law Judy Vanderploeg.

Dear Oma of Shannon Voyles (Chris), Timothy Vanderploeg (Crina), Justin Wiley (Sophie), Evan Wiley (Lindsay) and Daniel Wiley (Maria).  Coby loved her great grandchildren; Michaela, Madelyn, Elias, Bellamy and Elena.

Dear sister of William Vanderelst, Patricia Bouwmeester (late William), Cor Vanderelst (Cathy), Peter Vanderelst (Jenny), Art Vanderelst (Liz), Nelly Vandermeyden (Herman) and John Vanderelst (Bobbie). 

Also survived by her brother-in-law Paul Vanderploeg (Mary) and sister-in-law Jane Vanderploeg, and by many nieces, nephews and family in Holland.

Predeceased by 8 of Ralph’s siblings.  Coby was the secretary at Parkview Public School in Komoka and Colborne Street Public School in Strathroy for many years. 

Friends are invited to join the family for visitation at Denning’s of Strathroy on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Community Christian Reformed Church in Mount Brydges, with Pastor Phil Apoll officiating. Interment will follow at Old Campbell Cemetery in Komoka from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A reception will take place at Denning’s of Strathroy from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Special thanks to Dr. M. Louzada at LHSC, and the caring and compassionate team at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at mtbrydgescrc.org or on YouTube at hopecommunitycrc.
