Obituary of Lucas Noordhof

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucas Noordhof at the age of 91. He passed away at Strathroy Hospital on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Beloved husband of Elsie for 67 wonderful years.

Lucas will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and all whose lives he touched. We are comforted by the knowledge that he is with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Lucas emmigrated from Holland to Canada at the age of 17 with his parents and brother Jan. A few years later, he married the love of his life, Elsie. Lucas and his brother operated a cement contracting business for 40 years. At the same time, Lucas was deeply involved in church and Christian school activities, where he used his gifts of administration, leadership, and spiritual care. For many years, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, drove for the VON, and encouraged prisoners through Bible studies and letter writing. One of his greatest passions was learning about and listening to pipe organs. In everything he did, Lucas displayed the love of Jesus and a thankful heart through works of service, kind words, and wise advice. His deepest desire was that others would know the love of God and the assurance of salvation through Jesus.

The family would like to thank everyone at Sprucedale Care Centre and other caregivers over the years who looked after Lucas.

A memorial service will be held at Compass Community Church, 405 Drury Ln, Strathroy, ON N7G 3G2, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a visitation luncheon in the church hall.
