Obituary of Teresa Louise Cook

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Teresa Louise Cook announces her passing on September 15th, 2025 after courageously enduring a 48-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Teri's life was one of remarkable strength, grace, and resilience, and she will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and James Ryan, as well as Johanna and Adrian Kock. Teri was the beloved wife of 48 years to the late Jack Cook (Jacobus Kock 1947-2019), a devoted and loving mother to Jennifer Kock-Partington, and a proud grandmother to Mitchell & Sam Partington. She was a caring mother-in-law to Paul Partington and cherished sister of Mary John, James & Hannah Ryan, Lorraine Ryan and Lynn Ryan. She will be deeply missed by her extended family Henry & Suzie Kock, Cory & Mal McLellan, Adriana Kock and John & Debby Kock, as well as nieces and nephews Lindsay Small, Kris Kock, Melanie Morgan, Sarah Schultz, Heather John, Laura Maxwell, Chris Ryan, Brandon Ryan, Shanelle Ryan and Emily Gray.  She will also be fondly remembered by the many staff at Strathmere Lodge who cared for and supported Teri over the past six years.

From an early age, Teri demonstrated a profound faith and unwavering spirituality that served as her guiding light. Despite the challenges posed by her condition, which slowly robbed her of the ability to walk, Teri maintained a bright smile and a sense of humor that uplifted the spirits of everyone she encountered. She approached each day with an optimism that was both inspiring and contagious.

Teri’s deep love for life was evident in her creative spirit. She was passionate about science, music, poetry, philosophy, and the visual arts. She found inspiration in the world around her and channeled that energy into producing emotional, heartfelt artistic works of her own. Her creativity was not only an outlet for her soul but a gift to those fortunate enough to experience it.

In her younger years, Teri and her husband, Jack, were avid hikers, exploring the stunning landscapes of the Niagara Escarpment from Rattlesnake Point to the Bruce Peninsula. These cherished memories in nature were an integral part of Teri’s life, symbolizing her love for adventure and the beauty she found in the world around her.

Though Teri's physical presence will be sorely missed, her unconditional love, legacy of kindness, faith, and creativity will live on in the countless lives she touched. She will always be remembered as a shining example of strength, courage, and the enduring power of love.  We take comfort in knowing that Teri has been reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and is now walking, running, and dancing through the gates of eternity.

Rest in peace, dear Teri. Your journey on earth may have ended, but your spirit will forever inspire us.

In keeping with Teri’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of Our Lady Basilica in Guelph Ontario (late October).  As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the MS Society of Canada https://mscanada.ca/take-action/ways-to-donate
