It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Evelyn Bett (nee Ross) in her 88th year. With loving family at her side, Barbara passed quietly at her home at Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy on Friday May 23, 2025.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Michael (2021), her son Alan (1976), her parents Maude (1994) and Frank (1983) Ross, her brothers Glen (2018) and Bruce (1994) Ross, her sister in laws Hilda (2016) and Dorothy (1997) Ross, her favourite cousin Shirley Lockhart (2015), and grandson Ryder (2022) Kelly.
Dearly loved by her children Carol (John) Kelly and Sandy (Marilyn) Bett.
Proud Nana of Alexander Gillcrist, Sarah Gillcrist, Ryder Kelly, Sydney Bett and Nicholas Bett.
She will be missed by her niece Tracy (Gary) Slater of Ailsa Craig, and by her nephew Paul (Margo) Ross of Owen Sound and their children
She also cherished the many friends she had over her lifetime.
She loved her flowers and enjoyed her large garden. Barb enjoyed her time spent at their cottage in Kincardine, visits from friends and family and neighbours. She often enjoyed theatre productions at area theatres and travelling with Mike and other friends.
Barbara was an avid member of Strathroy United Church for over 60 years.
Barbara was a caring mother and will be remembered by her smile, determination, compassion, and her support of her family.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sprucedale Care Centre for care and kindness over the last few weeks and months of Barbara’s life.
A Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025, from 6:00-8:00pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. A Funeral Service will take place the following day Thursday, May 29th, 2025, at 11am at Strathroy United Church. Interment to follow at Strathroy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada.
