Obituary of Helen Mary Hamilton

Helen Mary Hamilton (née Haid)
April 2, 1923 – May 18, 2025

With great love and remembrance, we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Mary Hamilton on the early morning of May 18, 2025, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, at the age of 102.

Helen was predeceased by her dear parents, Albert and Clara Haid (née Stinson), and her five brothers Earl, Pat, Arthur, Cecil, and Norman.

Helen spent her early years on a farm in Mornington Township, Hesson. In 1946, she and her husband, Alan Clayton Hamilton (deceased 1999), moved to Strathroy, where they proudly established Hamilton’s Bakery. Together, they nurtured a loving family, adopting five children with joy: Patrick Hamilton (Joanne), Carol Carrol-Stankus (Charlie, deceased 2022), Peter Hamilton (Sandra), Craig Hamilton (Sylvia Sawro), and Mary Hamilton McComiskey.

Helen’s legacy continues through a large and devoted family, including 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be cherished by many nieces and nephews.

Beyond her dedication to family, Helen found joy in gardening and traveling. She treasured vacations in Florida and peaceful moments at the family cottage on Lake Huron.

Helen’s warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are warmly invited to a visitation at All Saints Parish Catholic Church, 124 Front St. E., Strathroy, Ontario, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m., with interment at All Saints Roman Catholic Cemetery afterward. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial.
