My sincere sympathy to all of Hilda’s family. My mom, Mary Barr had met Hilde through the Women’s Institute. They became fast friends. Always exchanging Christmas cards. Hilda’s always were of a photo she had taken. After my mom’s passing, Hilde continued to send cards to me. Occasionally, she and I would talk on the telephone. Condolences to all of Hilde's family. I knew Hilde when she was a member of the Federated Women's Institute of Ontario. She was a dedicated member who mentored many WI members and taught them how to carry out our vision of working together for a safe and healthy community. Hilde was always willing to help out anyone so that they could have a better and more enriched lifestyle. Thanks Hilde for all you did for all of us. We certainly benefitted from your generosity. I have memories of Hilde as I think the one and only time she lead a 4H club and her advice on the topic which was about careers or entrepreneurship , I don't really remember the name of it. She was kind and caring with so much patience.

We are so sorry to hear that Hilde has passed. I have memories of an amazing woman who had the confidence to mentor so many farm women. I was one of the beneficiaries of her kindness. She felt there was a place for all rural women, whether it was in the Federated Women’s Institute or one of farm women’s organizations that were so active during the farm crisis of the ‘80’s. We owe Hilde a great deal for her strength and dedication to her community.

Hilde was a friend to so many of us in her lifetime and a tremendous mentor and role model. She guided and directed us in Women's Institue workshops and meetings kindly and firmly.. Sending my deepest sympathies to Jill, Julie, Carol and family. Hilde was such a special lady. She was honest and forthright, but loving and caring. I have the utmost respect for her. She was a mother figure, spiritual mentor and most of all, a friend during my time in the Kintyre community. She gave me the saying (when people were criticizing how I was handling things in our church setting), tell them “when you do it next time, you can do it right”. Rest in peace sweet lady!
