Obituary of John Manders McPherson
McPherson, John “Jack”
Surrounded by family, John “Jack” McPherson passed away at peace on April 24th , 2025 in his 96th year. Loving husband of Jean (Karr) for 68 wonderful years. Cherished father of Roger (Janetta) McPherson, Barb (Ken) Peters and Gloria McPherson (Henry Ramirez).
Proud grandpa of the late Alicia (2011) (Steve) Rombouts, Kyle (Jennifer) McPherson, Brien McPherson (Ben Marcolin), Jeffrey (Meagan) Millar, Martin Ramirez (Charlotte Potter), James Ramirez, Laurie Peters (Mike Di Mambro), Jeffery (Krista) Peters, Julie Peters (Drew Schappert), and Kevin (Lisa) Peters. He will also be missed by his 23 great-grandchildren.
Survived by in-laws Jack and Beth Karr, Jan Karr and Helen MacPherson.
Predeceased by brother Laverne MacPherson, son-in-law Frank Thuss and in-laws Bruce Karr, Joyce and Max Zavitz, Hilda and Ron Yorke.
Jack will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Jack dedicated over 50 years to farming in Warwick Township and was a well-known cattle drover. He also enjoyed local politics, and was elected to terms as a Township councillor, Deputy Reeve and Reeve, as well as a councillor in Forest.
In his community he was active with the Lions Club and then later in Forest with the Kiwanis. Jack was a devoted member of the United Church in Arkona and Forest.
Jack and Jean loved to travel and enjoyed many winters in Florida. The grandchildren have many fond memories of camping and spending time with Grandpa and Grandma. Grandpa was known for his stories, his love of teasing and wrestling.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 from 4-7pm at DENNING’S OF FOREST. A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 at 11am at the funeral home. Lunch to follow at the Forest United Church. Private Interment.
