Obituary of Wilma Hamstra

 

On March 16, 2025,  Wilma (Kingma) Hamstra was taken home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She is survived by Wick, her loving and faithful husband of 60 years, and her children Anita (Scott) VandePolder, Jane (Peter) Schalk, Peter (Betty) Hamstra, and Richard (Jana) Hamstra. Also, grandchildren Christopher (Pamela) VandePolder, Monique (Sean) McKnight, Robin (Steven) Boers, Lorianne (Evan) Lentz, Tony (Alana) VandePolder, Sam (Jen) Schalk, Becky (Nathan) Deelstra, Steven Schalk, Ian (Jessica) Schalk, Erin (Deric) Hartemink, Nicole (Jesse) Linker, Derek Hamstra, Ben (Leanna) Hamstra, Jeff Hamstra, Janelle Hamstra, Sarah Hamstra, and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Patsy Pranger, Jerry (Marianne) Kingma, Gretchen (Gary) Van Aaragon, Ruth (Hank) Haan, Corrie (John) Beintema, and in-laws Jennie (Charlie) DeVries, Aafke Ypma, Jake (Jean) Hamstra, and Tina (John) Sandink. She was predeceased by her parents Rimmer and Antje Kingma, and brothers-in-law Hugh Pranger and George Ypma. Wilma was born in Franeker, Netherlands on March 5, 1944, and immigrated to Canada to the Strathroy area with her family in 1951. She led a life of active and faithful service to her church, the Christian school and her community which was motivated by her deep faith in Jesus. Visitation will take place at DENNING'S OF STRATHROY on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Celebration of Life service will take place on Monday, March 24th at 11:00 am at East Christian Reformed Church in Strathroy. A private interment will take place prior to the service.
