From the moment we met in 2005, your kindness shone through. You welcomed me into the family with open arms and a heart full of warmth. I’ll never forget the never-ending meatloaf determined to finish every drop of ketchup or the countless trails we walked together, exploring the beauty of New Zealand.
One of my favorite memories will always be that day by the water in Kaikōura, when we sat down just as a seal barked at us! Somehow, both of us completely missing it. We laughed about it then, and I smile about it now, cherishing the simple, joyful moments we shared.
Your love, your generosity, and your gentle spirit will stay with me always.
You live on in your beautiful daughter and granddaughter.
Until we meet again.
Love Kevin

Dieter, Andrea and Karl:
My deepest sympathies on the loss of your mom and your life partner. I'm in awe at the rapid decline from that happy Valentine's picture of you two posted on Facebook to now a month later sending condolences on Mary Ann's passing. I know you will cherish the memories of the good and even the more recent sad time spent with a beautiful woman.
Michael, Cathy and Tony:
To you and your families my prayers are with you on the loss of your sister and aunt. I'm certain she is joyfully reunited with her mom and dad. Your entire family played a significant role in my life and holds a special place in my heart - always will. There a lot of good memories rushing through my mind as I write this. I grieve with you in this time.
Mary Ann:
We met in September 1976 and you quickly filled my life with joy and happiness. I had the brief chance to know and love a beautify young woman with an infectious smile. A smile that obviously did not fade based on everyone's comments. We shared a lot and I recollect especially the club dances with your parents; a "Polka Time with Walter Ostanek" filming in Kitchener; the CNE in Toronto; the Western Fair; our picnic at the Pinery with your mom, Cathy and Tony; our BBQ steak dinner at the park in Lucan; skating at the arena so that I could walk/drive you home. By the way, I don't think I've heard a polka played in the last 47 years that hasn't immediately brought back memories of you. Even my wife comments that she is not the dance partner you were. But alas what I dreamt of, was not to be - you met Dieter and the rest as the saying goes - was history.
I want to say the world has been robbed of a beautiful lady but I know that God does everything with purpose and according to his perfect timing. You've graciously escaped the cage that Alzheimer's created. You are free and can be at peace. We that are left here will all go on but will never forget you. I'm planning to see you again on the other side.
Brad

Mary Ann,
We just cannot believe we are saying goodbye. Your light, fun loving energy, laughter, giggles, dance moves, smile will live on in all of us. In these last few weeks you fought a battle until those last breaths which even showed your incredible strength. We know that you are dancing, collecting rocks, singing and will watch out for all of us. We will miss you so much and we promise to take care of Dieter and your family. Until we meet again
Love you.

I never imagined you would be my next goodbye.
As hard as it was to witness your final weeks on this Earth, I know that being in your hospital room by your side was the only place I needed to be.
I hope you felt all the love and support that surrounded you in your final days. I hope you heard our laughter as we reminisced and told stories of our favourite memories with you. I hope you felt our touch as we held your hands.
Walking out of the Palliative Care unit for the final time, I knew you were at peace. The Alzheimer’s no longer had a hold on you. And knowing that brought me great peace as well. I hugged tightly in my arms the quilt that was laid on you, feeling as though I was carrying a piece of you out of the hospital with me.
I’ll never forget your kindness. You would do anything for anyone. You radiated pure joy every time you smiled. You were a blessing to be around, and I am so proud to call myself your niece.
Thank you for all the life lessons you taught me, I truly learned so much from you.
I promise to continue to pick up rocks, and to be just as excited as you were when you found one that was really cool. It was in this pastime of picking rocks where some of the biggest life lessons were taught… finding beauty in the ordinary and finding joy in the simple.
Rest in Peace my beautiful Aunt Mary Ann. Give Stara Mama and Stari Ata a huge hug from me, I know they’ve been waiting for you.
PS, I’ll make sure the Teddy Bear is taken care of.
