Obituary of Herman Henricus Joseph Naus

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Herman Naus. On March 5, 2025, he passed away peacefully at 2:10am with his two loving daughters at his side.  Herman is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Theresa (Vanden Hoven), his 5 children Chris (Cathy), Richard (Cathy), Elisabeth Garcia (Armando), Sylvia Benedict (Julian), Adrian (Patricia), his 12 grandchildren, Max, Dougie, Julia, Peter, Dillon, Larissa, Andrew, Joshua, Sarah, Claire, Rosalie, Megan, and 4 great grandchildren, Sophia, Rosa, Mia and JJ. Herman is survived by his siblings Henry, Tina, Mary, Judy, Harriet, Joe and Gary.  He was a loving son of his predeceased parents Christian and Arnoldina Naus.

He was born on March 11, 1941 in Neerkant, Netherlands.  In 1953, the Naus family settled in Strathroy, ON, Canada and he started building homes with his father and brothers.  On July 6, 1963 he married his loving wife Theresa in Sarnia, ON.
Herman is well known for his sense of humor, booming laugh, warm smile, relaxed outlook, and welcoming personality.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers and family.  He was passionate about spending quality time with family and friends, church, playing cards and board games, horse racing, and exploring and driving every back road in Ontario.

Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Strathroy, on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 4:00pm-8:00pm with a Live Streaming of Prayers at 7:30 pm.  

A final close family visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2025 from 9:30am-10:30am.

A Funeral mass will be held at All Saints Parish in Strathroy at 11:00am on Monday, March 17, 2025.  A Live Streaming of the Funeral will be available for those unable to attend in person.

After the funeral, an interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery in Strathroy.  A luncheon will be held at the All Saints Church Hall following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Herman Naus may be made to All Saints Parish, Strathroy, Ontario.
