From my very first day on earth until her last day, my grandmother was there for me unconditionally. She began looking after me when I was 5 months old after my mom went back to work and from that moment on she dedicated her life to raising us.
Grammy was always the first one in the Kiss and Ride line, picked us up for lunch every day from school, went on all the field trips and attended all the special events. She never missed a school performance, dance recital or competition and even travelled from one coast to another for my science fairs. She was one of my biggest cheerleaders and supporters.
Grammy made our childhood both special and magical. She was always taking us on adventures and trips, giving us new opportunities and experiences. I didn’t truly appreciate her sacrifice until I was older. I thought everyone’s grandparents were like mine.
As we both grew up and older our bond remained strong. I would always call my grandparents first to tell them exciting news, and to ask their opinion about major life decisions- like buying a house or taking a new job. Grammy was just a phone call or short drive away from reassuring me that everything would be fine and that no matter what- I was loved and supported. She taught me not to sweat the small stuff and how to be resilient. Tough things happen, but you can’t let it define you.
Recently we had an opportunity to sit together, held each other hands and reminisced about our life together. We looked out at the birds from her window and laughed and cried. We told one another that we loved each other, that we would both be okay and promised we would see each other again. I will cherish those final moments we had.
Thank you Grammy for giving us the world. We love you all so much and will miss you.

My mom lived life to its fullest and never let her health issues following the pandemic hold her back. We shared so many laughs and adventures together and we truly created a happy home. My dad would be so proud of the way she thrived following his passing in 2017. She learned so much more than just how to pump gas. She created spectacular gardens at our home in Barrie and certainly outdid herself in creating incredible gardens and a fountain in our new home. The house is so quiet now without your oxygen running and dull without your smile. We love you mom, and know that you are reunited with dad and Snoopy.
