Celebration of Allona's Life
Obituary of Allona Mae Higgins
Allona Mae Higgins (nee Eby), the matriarch of our family, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at Strathroy Middlesex Hospital.
Born on June 11, 1943, in Welland, Ontario, Allona was known for her kindness, her love for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and her love for her family. She had an undeniably loving spirit.
Allona will be remembered by her beloved husband of 62 years, Keith Higgins; her children Cheryl (Harold) Morden; Glen (Pam) Higgins, her grandchildren Ethan, Alyssa (Anthony DeSilver), and Aden Morden; Spencer and Victoria (Christopher Hendry) Higgins; her eight great grandchildren – Ruby Mae, Solomon. Roman, Titus and Malachi DeSilver and Kaden, Samson and Kohen Hendry; her sister Elizabeth (Philip) Withey, nieces, nephews and many extended family.
She is joined in rest by her mother, Ruby Mae (Winger), her father, Aden, her brothers Larry (infant), Malcolm (Maryon) and Dwight (Joan), along with many other loved ones throughout her life. With a beautiful family tree and a family consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Allona was a blessing to all that knew her, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Among Allona’s most significant accomplishments was raising her two children, whom she held as her pride and joy. She was a proud and involved grandmother. And she adored her eight great grandchildren. She served as a Pastor’s wife for a considerable part of her life and taught many children over the years in children’s church and Sunday School. She was active in women’s ministry and loved socials and gatherings with friends. She was an avid baker, enjoyed sewing, making her own clothes, and refinishing family heirlooms.
Yet, amidst the joys of her life, Allona experienced the significant loss of three infants brought her way, but she never wavered in her faith. She continued to love and support her family and was a sweet and loving soul.
Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness, gentle spirit, and love. She was content and happy; never comparing herself to others, she was proud of her life and her family. Even when sick she never complained or questioned why. She never wavered in her faith. She cared for her loved ones more than she did for herself. Her life served as a testament to her faith, and her walk with the One who walked with her and talked with her and told her she was His own.
A Celebration of Life for Allona will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Forest City Bible Church, 1889 Wonderland Rd. North, London, Ontario.
Cremation has taken place and burial in First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener, will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Missions ministry of Forest City Bible Church would be welcomed.
